Choice Theory/Reality Therapy (CT/RT) Practice Exam

Commitment in reality therapy primarily emphasizes the client's accountability for change. This concept is central to the therapeutic framework, as reality therapy focuses on helping clients understand that they have the power to make choices and take responsibility for their actions and their consequences. By emphasizing accountability, reality therapy encourages clients to actively engage in the therapeutic process, fostering a sense of ownership over their lives and decisions.

This concept aligns with the core principles of Choice Theory, which underpins reality therapy, suggesting that individuals have control over their behavior and are capable of changing it if they choose to do so. In this way, the therapist supports the client in recognizing their role in shaping their own reality and outcomes. This focus on personal accountability is crucial for facilitating genuine change and personal growth, empowering clients to take steps towards fulfilling their needs and goals.
